"The best memories are often those of spontaneous trips and
unusual experiences."
Over this August Bank Holiday there's plenty of things for you
to see and do whatever your age or party make-up. Here are some
suggestions for a spontaneous Bank Holiday trip to North Wales:
1. Take a trip to Aber Falls - a dramatic waterfall worth
the gentle walk and certainly worthy of a photograph or two.
2.
Festival No. 6 - "a bespoke banquet of music, arts and
culture" - is held in the historic and beautifully scenic Italiante
village of Portmeirion and is an event well worth visiting
(pictured below). Running from the 1st until the 4th September, day
tickets and more information are available here.
3. Fish & Chips in Betws-Y-Coed - an alpine village with a
river running right through it's heart. Sit on the rocks with a
portion of chips and watch the tumultuous river smash it's way
under the bridge in the centre of the village.
4. Beaumaris Medieval Festival runs from the 27th
to the 29th of August. A family day out, packed full of
exciting activities, stalls and re-enactments all within the walls
of one of North Wales' most iconic and perfectly located castles.
Running from Sat-Monday over the weekend, tickets cost £6 for
adults, £4.20 for concessions and children and family tickets are
£16.20.
5. Buy a 3 day CADW Explorer's Pass (if you stay in one of
our new apartments in Harlech you will receive one
for free!) and visit as many castles as you can in one weekend -
from Beaumaris and Conwy to Caernarfon and Criccieth. A
culture vulture's dream come true!
