North Wales can be split into three main regions; Snowdonia, the
Lleyn Peninsula and the Isle of Anglesey. All of which are amazing
destinations for family adventure this October.
Things to do
Of course there is North Wales main free attraction - the
great outdoors! With beaches such as Harlech, Newborough and Hell's
Mouth - all famed for their glorious golden sands - they are just
as much fun on a bright crisp October day. Certainly helps to
"clear the cobwebs" as my gran would say!
Along with beaches, there are plenty of walks all over North
Wales; from coastal paths round Anglesey and the Lleyn to more
varied terrain within the Snowdonia National Park. It's a great way
to get all the family outdoors and enjoying that fantastic 'Welsh
air!'. So you see, not all attractions are things you have to pay
to enjoy; we love how much fun you can have in North Wales for
free! Strolling Conwy town walls, calling into Criccieth Lifeboat
Station and wandering the cliffs of the South Stack RSPB reserve
(getting a bird's eye view of the famous lighthouse) - are a few
more free places to explore!
There are so many fantastic things to do that provide fun for
all the family; from day trips to the zoo (sea or mountain) to
getting an adrenaline rush on the fastest Zip Line in the world! For something a
little more sedate why not discover some history - with castles
galore across North Wales call in at Conwy, Caernarfon or Criccieth
castles you'll be sure to learn a lot!
Below we've complied a list (not exhaustive by any stretch
of the imagination!) of a variety of our favourite things to do
here in North Wales and we think they're perfect for filling up
your October Half term!
Whilst there aren't oodles of paid attractions on the Lleyn, it
more than makes up for this with all the free outdoor spaces to
enjoy! The Lleyn is famed for its many fantastic beaches, like
Morfa Nefyn or Porth Dinllaen instead. If you haven't yet done the
walk onto the headland at Nefyn through the golf course I would
highly recommend - and make a stop off at the Ty Coch
Inn - voted in the top ten beach bars in the world!
To those of you worried about the weather we say "wrap up, get
out and discover" you might be happy to hear, contrary to
popular belief, October isn't always that cold. Nicole from our
team was in a summer dress on a scorching hot Halloween last year
enjoying the views from Criccieth Castle out to sea! North Wales
has so much to offer its visitors during autumn and we think it's
special to see how places change with the seasons and the colours
are just incredible!
