This year marks the 40th Anniversary of the Anglesey Vintage Equipment Society, a self
funded charity which aims to encourage the restoration and
preservation of old machinery.
The annual Anglesey Vintage Rally organised and run by
dedicated members and volunteers was held at the Anglesey
Showground at the weekend (21-22 May) and provided excitement for
all the family. The event not only showcased numerous classic,
commercial and vintage vehicles; there were also handmade models,
stationary engines and not forgetting the always impressive steam
and miniature steam engines on show.
Luckily the weather held off and the crowds were able to
enjoy all the Rally had to offer on Saturday and Sunday including
the many trade stalls, tractor pulling, fairground rides and even a
stunt team! It was a great day out and I would recommend it to all
- even if cars, trucks, tractors or engines aren't your thing -
there is something for everyone. There was a strong sense of
community and it was amazing to see the support from exhibitors and
visitors alike. The society help to raise funds to assist local
charities and organisations and what a wonderful way to raise money
and to have fun all at the same time!
A date for your diary the Anglesey Vintage Rally will be
held next year on the 20th and 21st of May, so why not make a week
of it and come and see what else Anglesey has to offer?
