Elcriso is a newly renovated detached 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom stone farmhouse with own pool and stunning views, set in a peaceful very rural location yet within walking distance of a restaurant.
The property has been refurbished with love and care, using lots of traditional tuscan furniture, and provides really spacious family accommodation situated over 3 floors. Ideal therefore for 2 families holidaying together. There is traditional flooring throughout, solid chestnut windows and doors, and the second floor boasts arch valuted beamed ceilings. Most rooms are double aspect.
On the ground floor there is a large bright double aspect kitchen/diner full equipped with oven, hob, dishwasher, microwave, fridge/freezer and dining table which extends to give sufficient seating for all.
Also on the ground floor is a spacious living room withfireplace, some exposed stonework, comfy seating, sat tv, dvd and wifi internet.
On the first floor there are two spacious bedrooms - one double and one double with an extra single bed. There is also a good size pristine shower room (which also houses washing machine).
On the second floor there are a further two large bedrooms, both with arch vaulted beamed ceilings - one double, and one a triple room. There is also a new spacious shower room on this floor too.

Direct from ground floor onto eating terrace with amazing views for eating al fresco and enjoying pre dinner drinks.
Large garden - all fenced and gated.
Private pool overlooking georgeous mountain vistas. Sunbathing area. Shower and footbath.

The owner is happy to come and cook delicious meals on request, which has proved very popular with guests. Also there is the option of a free professionally guided local mountain day walk! Let us know in advance as depends on availability.
A little about the area
This property is peacefully situated just beneath the
peaks of the Appenine mountain range; 800M from the village of
Chiozza with its basic shop, bar and restaurant; approximately 1 hr
15 minutes north of Lucca, and a 15 minute drive to the market town
of Castelnuovo di Garfagnana with it famous Thursday morning
market, shops, bars, restaurants and train station…..
The local village has a bar/basic food shop and a popular
restaurant and it is possible to walk cross country for 3km to a
further restaurant, located in Castiglione, a beautiful fully
walled mediaeval village which is known for its intact protecting
walls, fantastic views, and summer festas.
The property is located only a 15/20 minute drive to the famous
mountain peak top village of San Pellegrino with its mummified
saints and incredible views.
Whilst a walkers paradise and set in the depths of the
countryside, there is not a feeling of isolation at this farmhouse
and the house is only a 10 minute drive or so from what is often
described as the best restaurant in the area, at Pieve Fosciana,
which also boasts, shops, banks, bars, restaurants, and the most
gorgeous delicatessen with take way home made traditional Italian
food.

Rental & Booking Information

- Owner is no longer able to cook for the guests due to work comitments. She now prepares the food at home and brings it to the guests in trays and pots with thermal containers.
No table service but her trays and pots will picked up the day after so clients don't need to wash them. They only need to lay the table and wash their own plates, glases and cutlery.
The menu consists of pasta (chose between homemade tagliatelle, lasagne or Ravioli with spinach and ricotta) All with meat sauce. Main course is roasted meat, stewed vegetables or mixed salad.
Please note that all the group must chose the same pasta.
The price varies from Eu 20 /person to Eu 22/person for adults depending on which pasta they chose and Eu 18/person for children.
If they want dessert it costs Eu 4 for adults and children.
No wine is included.
She is able to do bring the food at 19.00, 19.30 or 20.00.

If you love seclusion, this is the place for you. The house and
pool are beautifully situated in the middle of the mountains. Pure
nature.

We loved our stay at the villa. There was plenty of room and the
kids loved the pool. The hosts were helpful. There is plenty to do
in the surrounding area and the cities of Lucca, Pisa and Florence
are outstanding. The nearer towns of Barga and Castelnuovo are also
very attractive. The area has recently been a center of attention
on BBC with Amanda Holden, Rob Rinder and Clive Myrie. However, if
you don't like heights and hairpin bends up a mountainside, this
might not be the villa for you.

Wonderful place in a dream setting, secluded and peaceful.
Angela and her husband are super available and take great care to

Previous rental via airbnb shortened and refunded (description
inconsistent with what we found on our arrival), we urgently found
this incredible property which corresponded in every way to our
expectations: very beautiful interior volumes, a very well equipped
kitchen, a beautiful private swimming pool and a breathtaking view
of the mountain. And to top it all off, exemplary communication
with our host. We sense people who want to please!!! Thank you

A typical house surrounded by nature welcomes you with great
care! We really appreciated the breathtaking landscapes, the
freshness of the walls, the very welcoming village and the perfect
swimming pool. The house is very well equipped and the owner is
very friendly. I recommend the "come a casa" catering service that
she offers, a treat! I recommend this stay to anyone who wants a
relaxing vacation. Thank you Angela, a week's vacation worth

We had a wonderful holiday. A beautiful location, a beautiful
house with a swimming pool that is cleaned every evening by the
owners who are also very friendly. There is a gate between the pool
and the terrace for safety. For the little ones there is a water
bowl with a shower where they can have fun. The only disadvantage
we found was that it was at least an hour's drive to visit towns.
It is not far in kilometers, but the mountain roads make it much
longer.

Elcriso is wonderful and we didn't want to leave. We were a
group of friends who stayed for one month. The view from the
terrace is incredible, the pool delightful and the house quite
comfortable. Angelina provided meals on a number of occasions - her
lasagne is the best! Angelina and the Villa rental company were
very helpful throughout the month.

If you are looking for seclusion and relaxation, this is
the place for you. The spacious house is very clean and tidy and is
set in terraced grounds. The view of the Tuscan mountains and
valleys remains unforgettable. The small bar above the house in
Chiozza has everything you need for breakfast and on several
evenings it also offers typical Tuscan antipasti, a few meat dishes
and of course countless pizzas. With Angela, the owner of the
house, you can order a very tasty, home-made menu several times a
week. And if you really want to cook for yourself, you can reach
the nearest supermarket after about 6 km. We - 6 friends - enjoyed
2 weeks of sunshine, blue skies and a well-kept pool. Excursions to
the surrounding area and to Lucca were of course also
included.

We were guests in Elricso as a family with 2 teenage girls and a German shepherd. The house is very clean and furnished with attention to detail. The pool was also clean and well maintained. We especially enjoyed sitting on the covered terrace with the great view. Angela was a very nice and always helpful host, thanks again for the tomatoes and the small farewell present! If you are looking for peace and seclusion, this is the right place for you. Since the property is in the mountains, it was never too hot, which of course was good for our dog. Thanks to our (adult) children ;-) we drove to the nearby village with its pizzeria "La Grotta". There is a fantastic antipasti platter that is easily enough as a main course ;-) Pizza and salads are also very tasty! For hiking we went to San Pellegrino in Alpe. I can only recommend it to everyone. We also undertook a long serpentine drive to Viareggio by the sea. It took us about 1.5 hours to get there. In about 20 minutes you are in Castelnuovo di Garfagnana, where there are several shops and restaurants. All in all, you can definitely recommend the accommodation. Especially for those looking for peace and quiet who have no problem with bends. ;-)

Situated up the mountain close to a small town Chiozza, the place is amazing for a perfect Tuscan holiday. Well equiped and spacious even for a large family. High points for the swimming pool.

We enjoyed the house, pool and veranda. It is a comfortable house with a well-equipped kitchen, fine bathrooms and spacious bedrooms. The house is secluded and on top of a mountain. For peace seekers it is a lovely place.
