This cottage is very popular with honeymooners and it is easy to
see why - this really is a mountain hideaway!
This stone built cottage with traditional slate roof has been
lovingly renovated by the owners and retains lots of original
features such as traditional flooring, chestnut windows, beamed
ceilings.
Despite the almost rustic feel of this cottage and location there
are modern comforts, with a well equipped kitchen, modern shower
room, and WIFI!
Externally, there is a large garden, gorgeous pool area, romantic
loggia for dining al fresco and a wood burning pizza oven and BBQ
to complete your outdoor living experience.

- Enter property via covered loggia (ideal for relaxing in the shade with a book and a glass of wine) into open plan living/kitchen/dining area. Beamed ceilings, fireplace, TV with sports channels, settees, dining table, oven, hob, wood burning range cooker, fridge freezer and microwave. There is a DVD player, CD player and WIFI.
- Upstairs from the living area onto small landing leading to two double bedrooms (one of which has an additional single bed - raised level) and a modern shower room

A little about the area
This property is situated in the depths of the Garfagnana in a
mountain location. The views really are unrivalled from this place,
and one feels on is literally on 'top of the world'!
This is a location that just feels romantic...
There is a large flat garden with lots of room for children to run
around in the cool mountain air.
However hot the daytime is, the evenings are wonderfully cool for
sleeping due to the altitude.
Despite the remote location, the village of Carregine is 6km away
and here you will find a couple of restaurants, bars and basic
shops. There are also 3 restaurants within say 4km of the
house.
The closest village of Metello often has small festas, either
roasting the 'Porchetta' or Pizza evenings.
The area even has some skiing in the Winter and there is an alpine
feel to some of the area.. Ideal for walkers!
The local market town of Castelnuovo, with all facilities and
famous for its Thursday morning market is a 20 min drive. This town
is a lively little town and also boasts its own Fortress.
For days out, why not visit Barga, a beautiful mediaeval town with
cobbled streets, lots of quality restaurants, lovely architecture,
great views, art galleries and a cathedral. Just a 40 min
drive.
The Province City of Lucca is 1 hr 20 min away and is a wonderful
day out. Here one can cycle around the fully intact mediaeval
walls, meander around the narrow streets, visit some of the 100
churches, climb some towers, eat ice cream in the many piazzas,
take in some opera, shop till you drop and then sleep under the
trees in the wall 'park areas'! Or, just enjoy a leisurely drink
and people watch for the afternoon....
Further afield there is Pisa, 1 hr 40 mins or Florence, say 2
hrs.
There are so many options more locally:
- The Grotta del Vento - the famous Wind Caves
- Swimming in the river
- Visiting the ancient fortress of Verrucole
- Visiting the Protected National Parks
- Visiting Marble Quarries where the world famous Carrara Marble is found.
The list is endless if one wishes to explore, but it is difficult
to want to leave this lovely house and its environs since it really
is a little piece of paradise!

This grey stone cottage high in the mountains was exactly what
we were hoping for and much more. The views of the mountains were
simply breathtaking.
Coffee at the infinity pool in the morning was an awesome way to
start the day. Drinking a bottle of Italian wine in the late
afternoon was even nicer.
The cottage had everything we needed.The kitchen was fully
equipped. In fact, we ate dinner at home many nights. We also dined
in great restaurants all over the region.
We we made a warm fire every night. We went on day trips to
Florence and two wineries. We visited nearby villages and more. Our
hosts were perfect. They made sure we were happy and everything was
the way we wanted. All in all, you can't go wrong with this
wonderful home away from home in a special and beautiful corner of
the world. We will never forget our stay.

My wife & I stayed at Pian Di Luca for 4 nights but wish it
could have been longer. We were on a longer trip so needed
somewhere quiet & comfortable to relax & rejuvenate. Pian
Di Luca was perfect for our needs. what we wanted. The cottage was
clean, comfortable & had everything we needed. The outdoor
space and in particular the pool with a view was spectacular. We
would definitely return next time we are in the area.

The house is located in the mountains above Castelnuevo, fantastic view and very quiet. The plot is much larger than it looks in the pictures, plenty of space to play football. The pool is fantastic, large and with great views.

We spent a really great week in Pian Di Luca. We were welcomed with 6 bottles of wine from the very friendly owner. The pictures on the Internet are not deceiving, it is just wonderful. The view, the pool and the large garden are wonderful. We made extensive use of the pizza oven and grill. Small note, there is no dishwasher, but it didn't bother us at all. There were enough utensils for the kitchen and everything was very clean. There were also detergents, rags, sponges, detergents, garbage bags, tea towels, spices, etc. The contact through the agency was very friendly and helpful (extra information material!). There is a bigger house next door, which is also rented out. Since both plots are very large, that doesn't bother at all. You were all to yourself on the property. If you are looking for a relaxing holiday in a spectacular location, this is the right place for you. Children can let off steam in the garden and in the pool, while parents relax. We can recommend a trip to Pisa, a beautiful city. We would love to come back, thank you for everything !!

The holiday home is exactly like in the pictures. The view at the pool is fantastic. The house has a large fenced area on which the children and the dog felt very comfortable. It's secluded in a tiny place and you can enjoy the peace and quiet. Since it is relatively high, the summer nights are pleasantly cool and mosquitos hardly bother you. In the area there are many opportunities for walking and hiking, as well as many small villages as you would imagine in Tuscany. There is a pizza oven that you should definitely try. The contact with the owners and the agency went smoothly and was very friendly. We would definitely go again.

Fantastic area, wonderful views. Very enjoyable place.
We spent a week in early June in the beautiful house. The pictures give a good overview, but when you stand there yourself it's just amazing. Everything in the house is clean and very well equipped. The kitchen really has all the utensils you need. We spent the evenings in front of the fireplace - not only because of the romance, it was still quite cool in the evening. We really enjoyed our stay here. The contact via Lorraine from the agency to the landlords Paolo and Andrea was uncomplicated and nice, thank you!
