It was a very nice stay in a quiet residential neighbourhood.
Very nice hosts who stay in the background. Large outdoor area. A
paradise for our dog.

Our stay was good.

We spent 14 days in this very nice house. We were mostly under
the sun-protected seating area. The size of the plot made it ideal
for a holiday with a dog. The owners always stayed in the
background and were there promptly to help with questions or small
problems.

We absolutely loved the house. We were a large group with two
families: 4 adults & 3 kids total. There was plenty of space,
we were quite comfortable, & the outdoor areas were a paradise
for families with kids. We spent almost all our time outside. The
yard was absolutely huge, & securely fenced, the kids loved the
pool, & there was a lovely table under an ivy covered pergola
for meals al fresco. The owners live on the property, but you don't
even notice. When we did talk to them, they were wonderful & so
very kind. Barga is such a charming town, & you're surrounded
by gorgeous mountains. The old city center is blocked off to
traffic, & while it's actually pretty small, it doesn't feel
like it at first; we loved getting lost in the labyrinth of hilly
streets & mysterious staircases that wind out of sight. We
didn't consider it close enough to walk to, especially with kids,
but it was a quick few minute drive to central parking lots on the
outskirts & you walk in. We originally thought it would be a
great base for visiting surrounding areas, but frankly we found
driving through the mountains terrifying. We took day trips to Pisa
& Lucca, & the Grotta del Vento, & that was all the
driving we could stomach. But it was about 6 degrees C cooler up in
the mountains, so it was a good trade off in July. And no giant
crush of tourists. It was a magical week, & the highlight of
our trip. 10/10 recommend.

All perfect. Strategic area for touring the Garfagnana

We had a very nice holiday, the landlords were very friendly.
The apartment is huge, the garden has about 4000 square meters with fruit trees to snack on. The pool is sensational. The landlords live on the 1st floor, are very sweet - but leave you completely alone. You hardly see or hear them. The apartment is very spacious and well divided. Outside there are several terraces, a gas grill and a wood oven. It's soooo quiet - a place of total relaxation! Everything you need can be reached on foot within about 15 minutes. The entire village is very cozy, the residents are very nice across the board. We felt extremely comfortable!

You live on the ground floor of the very large house, which stands on a huge plot of land. The owners live on the 1st floor and keep very low profile. The reception was very friendly and uncomplicated. The interior is on an upscale 70s/80s level with everything you need. There are 2 terraces that you used depending on the position of the sun, all with plenty of space. Plenty of beach chairs and umbrellas were also there. The pool was unusual. It contains slightly salty water, which is needed for electrolysis disinfection, i.e. no pure chlorine. The edges gently slope into the pool like a beach. As a result, the swimming area is a little smaller, but big enough. We spent a lot of time here. Barga is a very likeable little town with a very beautiful medieval and a newer part. It's very lively, with lots going on in the streets and squares, especially in the evenings. There is a relatively active music scene with frequent concerts. The choice of restaurants is good. It all seems as if mainly the locals and the Italian tourist are on the move here. A pleasant contrast to the other Tuscan cities. A small disadvantage is the somewhat remote location in the mountains. It's a good distance away from the classic highlights. Nevertheless, we enjoyed everything and would love to come back.
5 stars
